The Quincy

Quincy are spiritually aware humans able to absorb and manipulate Reiryoku into weapons. Unlike the Shinigami who use a sword as their primary weapon, the Quincy's weapon of choice is a bow or a crossbow. These are constructed from spiritual particles drawn from their surroundings. This is also unlike the Shinigami, who rely on their own innate spiritual energy. (As a reflection of this, the Quincy have white spirit threads like normal humans, while Shinigami have red spirit threads.) A Quincy bow is summoned using an artifact called a Quincy Cross. The only limit to a Quincy's ability to create and fire arrows is their own stamina and ability to absorb ambient spirit particles. Quincy also have various tools and battle aides that can increase their power or serve as secondary weapons.

The final point of contrast between the Quincy and Shinigami is their respective choice of uniform. While the Shinigami wear traditional, black, flowing hakama, the Quincy wear white, form-fitting, high-collared tunics. These bear some resemblance both to Mandarin Chinese dress and to cassocks of Catholic priests. This gives the Quincy a distinctly "foreign" or "Western" style compared to the Shinigami. One peculiar recurring motif of Quincy is that of a cross, which appears frequently on their uniforms and artifacts. The cross is not the same shape among all Quincy. . The differences between Quincy and Shinigami in costume and iconography are minor compared to the differences in weaponry and ideology.

The Quincy were scattered all over the world at one time. They were relatives of magic hunters who specialized in the war against Hollows. All the Quincy were destroyed by the Shinigami over 200 years ago in order to prevent the destruction of the world. Shinigami govern the souls between the Human World and Soul Society, which maintains a balance that if not kept would result in the mutual destruction of both worlds. All souls, including Hollows, are subject to the Shinigami governance of maintaining the balance. Quincy completely extinguish Hollows. Thus the souls that come to the Human World do not return to Soul Society and therefore the souls would increase only on the side of the Human World. Meaning, the Human World becomes heavy in souls causing Soul Society to spill over into it; mixing life and death. The ultimate result would be the end of the world. Since the origin of the Quincy, many years passed with Soul Society trying to appeal to the Quincy that the handling of Hollows should be left to the Shinigami. The Quincy refused to accept the situation.

As time went on, the number of Quincy increased and the cycle of souls became more unstable, forcing the Shinigami to reluctantly wipe out the Quincy in order to maintain the balance of the world. The Quincy line was closely monitored over the decades, as their numbers continued to dwindle. Later the Quincy advanced the idea that since they were already among the living and still more numerous at the time, they could act as "first responders" to Hollow attacks; protecting humans until the less-numerous Shinigami could send a representative to finish the Hollow off. Embittered by the recent war, the Shinigami refused to participate, opting instead to allocate their limited resources to reacting to the most dangerous Hollows and current Hollow attacks.

The two raced divided. the Quincy still kept doing what they did best. While, they shingami kept monitoring them, deciding not to do anything until the balance of souls is endangered once more. Due to the growth in their numbers they formed a chain of private hospitals. Each one the them was in charge by a Quincy Director. During the day, they worked in the hospital, while during the night they trained other younger Quincy and battle hollows. However , since the war of Oberon, nearly all the Active Quincy in existence where wiped out by the invading Togabito Forces. The Faction had split since that fatal day, with a number of the remnants taking up the cause of The Olympians, a faction of humans bent on protecting the world from the horrors that still lurked around the world, and the other half sought to exploit this ruined world by working with The Lost Brotherhood.

Quincy Abilities

Reiryoku Absorption & Manipulation: A Quincy primarily absorbs spiritual energy from the atmosphere and combines it with his or her own spiritual energy to form weapons.[2] They have an easier time collecting this energy in environments with higher concentrations of spiritual particles such as in Soul Society or Hueco Mundo. To a sufficiently powerful Quincy, there is no difference between spiritual particles and spiritual energy as a source of power. They can manipulate spiritual energy for offensive purposes. A Quincy most commonly reshapes spiritual particles into various types of bow and arrows but can also concentrate spiritual energy into the form of swords, Seele Schneider, or Gintō.

Hirenkyaku (飛廉脚; lit: "Flying Screen Step/God Step", Viz: "Flying Bamboo-Blind Leg") is analogous to the Shinigami Flash Steps or the Arrancar Sonído. To perform the technique, the user gathers spiritual particles under their feet and rides them to the desired location. Like the air-walking skill displayed by most Arrancar and Shinigami, it can also be used to hover or fly for long distances.

Gintō (銀筒, Silver tubes) are small silver cylindrical capsules that store spiritual energy in a liquid form .They are used by Quincy for spell-casting in the same way that Shinigami use Kidō. Like Kidō, they are activated by calling out various commands.
List of Ginto can be found here - List of Canon Ginto Spells

Usage and Additional Information about Ginto:
- Each Quincy gets a couple of these tubes for his spells, Elite get 8, Semi-Elite get 6 and Non-Elite get 4.
- If one of their tubes is damaged or broken, or if they want some more, they need to get a new one which will cost them 20 SP.
- The maximum amount of tubes which one can have is 15.
- Each time when a tube is used up it need to be re-filled with reishi. While doing that a Quincy can still fight, but he just can't using Ginto spells while he is re-filling his tubes, it doesn't matter if he has a couple of tubes which are still full. Example, lets say a Quincy has 2 used up tubes and 2 full tubes. While he is re-filling those empty tubes, he can't use Ginto Spells event hough he still has 2 full ones.
- Further rules concerning Ginto are in the Fighting Style area under Ki and the Ginto Registration board.

Ransōtengai (乱装天傀; lit. "heavenly wild puppet suit", "disheveled paradise puppet" in the Viz translation) — This is a high level technique that allows the user to control their body parts using strings of spirit energy controlled by their brain, forming lines or strings out of countless spiritrons. By using this technique, the user can control their body as one would a puppet, allowing them to move freely despite paralysis, broken limbs, or any other force that would impede normal movement.
Note: Only Sanrei Quincy are allowed to use this technique. They must train for it as well, the word count is 1000 words. It has a 5 turn usage and a 3 turn cool down.

Quincy: Letzt Stil (滅却師最終形態(クインシー・レツトシュティール), Kuinshī Retsutoshutīru; Japanese for "Destruction Sage: Final Form, Quincy", German for "last style", Viz Media Translation, "Letz Stile"): is the last resort for a Quincy reached after removing the Sanrei Glove. It gives the user a tremendous amount of power, but at the price of loss of their powers upon its completion. The only way for a Quincy to regain their powers after using the final form is to first exhaust themselves both mentally and physically. They must then be hit exactly 19 mm to the right of their heart with a spirit arrow. After this, a pentacle-shaped scar will form on the point of impact and their powers will be restored.

Quincy Equipment

Quincy Bangle (装身具, sōshingu; lit. "Accessory"): The Quincy Bangle is an artifact designed to mimic a Quincy's natural powers. It works by drawing in spirit particles from the environment, much like a Quincy does regularly. It can only be used properly by those who are already adept at forming and directing spirit particles.
Note: Sanrei Quincy gain this item upon approval. It can only be used after they use up their Final Form. Other Quincy need to get it from one of the Directors.

Seele Schneider (魂を切り裂くもの (ゼーレシュナイダー), Zēreshunaidā; German for "Soul Cutter", Japanese for "That Which Slits the Soul"): The Seele Schneider is a thin sword that can be fired similarly to an arrow. It's much longer than a standard arrow and functions something like a chainsaw: the spirit particles of its blade vibrate at ultra-high frequencies, loosening the molecular bonds between any spirit matter it cuts so that the Quincy user may easily absorb the freed spirit particles.
Note: Regular quincy can use only 3, while Sanrei can use 6. Also, that is the number of Seele which they get when starting. If you lose one or if it gets destroyed, to get a new one you need to ask a Directors. Directors can just get one by making a 1000 words sample. Yes, they give you one for free, while for their own use they need to train it.

Hollow bait: This item is a small, coin-shaped disk that attracts Hollows when crushed. Every Quincy can use one of these once per topic.

Quincy Fighting Styles

Zan: This style generally refers to the way of the sword. However, Zan shall also be used as a reference to determine how well one utilizes their weapons.

Having no skill in this area means that you are unable to use a Senrei Glove and that with your bow, you can only fire 1 arrow per shot. You got a 60% accuracy.

Quincy: Bow

Mastery: All the abilities from the previous stages are yours. You can now fire 100 arrows in one shot. In Final Form your max arrows doubles.

Experts: You got all the previous skills and you can fire up to 50 arrows with one shot. Also, now, you can even fire a Schelee Sneider with your bow.
In Final Form your max arrows doubles.

Practitioner: Hooray, you got skills with your bow. That means you can use your Final Form if you have it and you can fire up to 20 arrows per shot. The amount of arrows which you can shoot is determined by your bows abilities.
In Final Form your max arrows doubles.

Ken: The ability to fight unarmed and without the use of weapons as suggested will be covered by this style. In simple terms, Ken relates to Hakuda (Hand to Hand) combat. This style of fighting is very popular among some. While others choose to master other arts.

Not having any skill in this area means that without a bow, you are pretty much useless. You don't know where or how to land hits, nor do you know any type of martial arts.

Quincy: Martial Arts

Mastery: All of the skills from the previous stages are allowed to you. At this stage you are a master of a couple fighting styles and you get 1 more Free Technique Slot for a Custom Hakuda Technique of your own desire. This slot can't be used for anything except that.

Experts: You got all of the skills which a Practitioner has, and even more. At this moment, you have learned how to efficiently use your strength and the strength of your foe into your advantage. But, that is not it, you also learned the locations of ones pressure points and organs. So, by hitting the right spots, you can do some serious damage with not so much effort.

Practitioner: You know how to use two or three types of martial arts, so even when someone disarms you, you will have a chance to win. Your skills aren't perfect and you still don't know where to hit in order to do the most damage.

So: This style relates to movements, and in this case, movement relates to techniques such as Shunpo, Sonido etc. Many have chosen to base their fighting style heavily on movement.

Not having a skill in this are means that you suck at using Hirenyaku so that you can only use it 2 times before a 3 post cool down.

Quincy: Hirenyaku

Mastery: Ones which posses this level of mastery over Hirenyaku were often called Speed Knights or Hirenyaku Queens/Kings. You are able to use Hirenyaku 14 times before a 3 turn cool down. Not only that, you are able to use the Klonen technique more often. Elites can use the Klonen technique 5 times, each taking one Hirenyaku usage. Semi and Non Elites can use it 3 times, taking one Hirenyaku usage. Once Klonen is used up, it can not be used again till Hirenyaku cool down is over. Each clone made with Klonen technique takes one Hirenyaku usage.

Experts: Your knowledge over this technique is quite impressive, you are so good that you can use it 10 times, after which you got a 3 post cool down. Of course, due to your great knowledge over this technique, you are able to use the Klonen technique. Elites can use the Klonen technique 3 times, each taking one Hirenyaku usage. Semi and Non Elites can use it 1 time, taking one Hirenyaku usage. Once Klonen is used up, it can not be used again till Hirenyaku cool down is over.

Practitioner: You have learned how to efficiently use Hirenyaku, meaning, you are now able to use it 8 times before a 3 post cool down.

Ki: Magic power is also another style that is utilized in battle, more so than some. These styles are all based upon preference and one's talent for such skills. Kido, Cero and other similar abilities are covered under this fighting style.

Having no skill in this area means that you have decided to abandon the way of the magic and focus on physically based skills. Meaning, you are not able to use Ginto.

Quincy: Ginto
Mastery: You still have all of the abilities from the stage before this. You also get 1 free Custom Ginto slot when starting out. You can now use 2 elements to attach to your arrows or Ginto. Post count for refilling your Ginto tubes is 1 turn per 2 tubes. So, in order to re-fill two of your tubes you need to spend 1 of your posts gathering reishi and putting it into your Ginto tube. During that turn you can't use any Ginto Spell. But, you can still fight. Of course, you can just re-fill your Ginto tubes using the method from before if you want.

Experts: All of the abilities from the stage before this, you got them. Not to mention, if you lose your powers via Final Form, you will still be able to use Ginto afterwards. And, you can use Seele Schneider's with your Ginto. You can now use 1 element to attach to your arrows or Ginto. Post count for refilling your Ginto tubes is 2 turns per 3 tubes. So, in order to re-fill three of your tubes you need to spend 2 of your posts gathering reishi and putting it into your Ginto tube. During those 2 turns you can't use any Ginto Spell. But, you can still fight. Of course, you can just re-fill your Ginto tubes using the method from before if you want.

Practitioner: You can use Ginto, good for you. Thats it, no extra benefits. Post count for refilling your Ginto tubes is 1 turn per tube. So, in order to re-fill one of your tubes you need to spend 1 of your posts gathering reishi and putting it into your Ginto tube. During that turn you can't use any Ginto Spell. But, you can still fight.

Peasants to Legends

The peasants to legend system was designed for those, who would prefer to start at the very bottom. Those who prefer the idea of character development, through true hardship. These peasants will no doubt become legends among their peers when its all said and done.

Quincy

The Future of the Quincy: The Quincy of this level are nothing but mere peasants, fledglings hoping to one day ascend to the status of their more experienced brethrens. A Quincy of this level has yet to gain a bow of their own. But before this should be attempted, the Quincy first needs to gain the necessary amount of knowledge required. The Quincy race relies on archery as the basis in which there powers are utilized.

Gaining Strength: Before a Quincy can even think of utilizing a bow of their own. The Quincy must first learn the basics, and these basics revolve around archery. The Quincy hopeful of gaining a bow, must become an apprentice to an experienced Quincy. At this point, said Quincy will teach them about the culture of the Quincy race. The basics behind archery, which must be done IC. A Quincy must RP in two topics learning about their race, its culture etc. During this time, they must also learn how to use a bow and arrow with perfect accuracy. This will require a minimum of 1k words to be completed. The Quincy must also work on their stamina and physical strength, to be able to handle their bow and arrow.

The Quincy Cross: Now that one has learned the basics behind archery, the Quincy would have earned themselves a cross, which will be the medium for the Quincy Bow. However, time must be spent learning how to gather Reiatsu particles to use with their bow. As such, a minimum of 1k word training must be done, detailing the Quincy learning how to fire these spiritual arrows. At this point, the Quincy can only fire off two arrows in one post, before having to wait one post for a cool down. This just shows a Quincy is not yet experienced with their bow.

In order for a Quincy to advance beyond this level, one must complete at least 4 missions. These missions are staff played NPC, dedicated to the advancement of the Quincy. Once the stipulation outlined has been met, a Quincy may now fire off five arrows per post, before a one post cool down. Access to Ginto and Sceele Sneider has also been prohibited temporary.

Zan-Ken-So-Ki

The fighting styles of a Quincy at this level are almost nonexistent and as such, the Quincy’s FS will appear as seen below:

Zan: Basic
Ken: Basic
So: Basic
Ki : Basic

Fighting Styles Upgrade:

A Quincy that has successfully summoned their Bow and learned more about its ability will get an upgrade in two areas. This means, you can boost your FS to that of a practitioners level. The area that you decide to boost is based on the vision of your own character. You will then get to upgrade another style lacking in skill, to that of a practitioner level, once you’ve learned your first technique. In order to upgrade your final area, you must complete two missions. By doing this, you would have increased all styles to that of a Practitioner’s level.

A Bonus/Incentive: In order to help you to become stronger, you will be given +200 Soul Points. The Soul Points given must be used for your Quincy and Quincy only. It cannot be transferred elsewhere or used for something else not directly related to your character’s FS progress. In order for one to progress all their FS to that of an Expert level. They must pay 200 SP every time. After this point, increasing one’s FS to a mastery level, will follow the same principles as everyone else. However your character will receive a discount, which will see your character pay 450 SP for mastery per Fighting Style.

Note: More about this system will be added as time goes by and we experiment with it.
